Taking the stress out of traveling Gluten Free

Taking the Stress Out of Traveling Gluten Free
Restaurants and Airports
Summer is quickly approaching as we plan our vacations or staycations whichever you are doing this year we always need to think about where we are going to eat and will they accommodate our gluten free lifestyles?
So many of my clients share with me the stress it brings when planning a vacation and worrying about where they are going to eat. Through tons of research I have found more and more gluten free restaurants and café’s popping up in most towns and if they don’t have one I always tell my clients to stop in and talk to the owner, manager or chef themselves and ask them if they can accommodate your needs. Most of us would rather not eat then ask the Chef; I am not only gluten intolerant I am a Chef and I would rather a patron ask to talk to me so I can take care of their needs properly then have someone either leave hungry or sick from eating something they shouldn’t have eaten. Today with such a large population following a Gluten Free diet most Chefs are incorporating gluten free dishes on their menus. Do ask your server when they prepare your salad or meal that they wear a new pair of gloves. Remember don’t be shy regarding this is your health at stake here, you need to take care of yourself.
I have found this great list of restaurants Gluten Free Registry Their free online database has more than 12,000 gluten-free-friendly restaurants, bakeries, caterers, grocers and more. You can also get information from them on your mobile phone at gfregistry.mobi and on your satellite navigation system. There is so much out there for us today if we do our homework before we leave the house.
Someone posed the question the other day regarding Gluten Free in airports and I knew that they were working on it and low and behold they have; here is the following list. This makes me so happy to see I will be flying soon and it is always good to know I will be ok. Though I never forget to pack a snack just in case I don’t have time to stop and grab something. Below you will find a list of airports and their restaurants that have gluten free menus. Remember to plan ahead and happy traveling!!

They are now offering a gluten free menu at the “Pour la France!” in the Denver International Airport. They are open from 10 am – 9 pm every day, and the gluten free options are quite extensive. This restaurant saved my life when I was traveling through Denver last, as I was extremely hungry and could find no gluten free options on my smart phone. I as lucky enough to end up at Pour la France, and when Operations Manager, Duane Murphy, handed me a full gluten free menu I nearly cried for joy! They offer gluten free sandwich bread, meals like Atlantic Salmon, Roasted Chicken, and Colorado Buffalo sausage. There are also many gluten free salad options, burgers, and a full gluten free breakfast. Help me spread the word about this great dining option available for people flying through Denver.
